Hikari Jumbo CarniSticks is large floating stick for arowana and other top-feeding monster fish. It is intended for Arowana and other large top-feeding carnivorous tropical fish. The formulation and food format are designed to make it easier to match the diet to the fish’s natural feeding behaviour, mouth size and position in the water column.

Food size, format & behaviour in the aquarium

Approx. 19.5-20.0 mm floating stick. This matters because food that is too large, too small, or positioned in the wrong part of the water column can be ignored or wasted. Choose the variation that your fish can take comfortably. Watch the first few feeds: the ideal size is one the fish can pick up and swallow readily without repeatedly spitting it out.

Which fish is it suitable for?

Arowana and other large top-feeding carnivorous tropical fish. Suitability should still be judged by the individual fish’s size and feeding style. In mixed communities, smaller or less competitive fish may benefit from a smaller food size or from feeding in more than one area of the aquarium.

What does the analysis mean?

Protein supplies amino acids used for growth and normal tissue maintenance, while dietary fat is an important concentrated energy source. These figures are best used to compare diets intended for similar fish and similar purposes rather than assuming that the food with the highest protein percentage is automatically the best choice.

How should I feed it?

Feed an amount the fish consume within a few minutes. Fish changing from live food may need time to accept a prepared stick. Remove uneaten food.

Start conservatively and watch how quickly the fish respond. Aquarium temperature, fish size, stocking density and activity can all change appetite. If food is repeatedly left behind or reaches the substrate uneaten when it is not intended for bottom feeders, reduce the portion. Controlled feeding helps keep the aquarium cleaner and avoids adding unnecessary organic load to the filtration system.

Where floating and sinking versions are offered, select the behaviour that best matches where your fish naturally prefer to feed. The goal is not simply to get food into the aquarium, but to make sure the intended fish can reach and consume it comfortably.
