The Deltec 9000 Series is designed for marine aquariums at a scale where filtration equipment has to process an exceptionally large organic load continuously.This is not simply a larger version of a conventional protein skimmer. The 9000 uses three dedicated skimmer pumps, a large cylindrical reaction chamber and Deltec’s hollow-footplate hydraulic design to process a very high volume of air while maintaining controlled water movement and foam formation.

Why a cylindrical reaction chamber matters at this size

The 9000 uses Deltec’s high-efficiency cylindrical reaction chamber. At this capacity, reaction-chamber geometry becomes particularly important. The purpose of the chamber is not to create the greatest possible turbulence. It is to allow a large volume of fine bubbles to remain effectively engaged with aquarium water as they rise through the chamber. The cylindrical form maintains a consistent chamber cross-section and supports controlled bubble movement before the foam reaches the collection area. A fluctuating sump level can change the hydraulic conditions around the skimmer and therefore alter foam behaviour.

Both 9000 models are specified at approximately: 470 × 420 × 780 mm with a footprint of: 470 × 420 mm and height of: 780 mm.

The current Deltec page contains a typographical error in one location showing “7800 mm”; the model specification and Deltec USA dimensions confirm the intended height is 780 mm, not 7.8 metres.

Before ordering, measure:

  • sump chamber width
  • operating water depth
  • cabinet height
  • collection-cup removal clearance
  • access around all three pumps
  • space for cleaning and servicing
  • access to the drain connection

With a skimmer this large, service access should be considered part of the installation, not an afterthought.
